The Swedish Chemicals Agency (KemI) is supervisory authority under the Government and work to ensure that the companies' and society's chemicals control is managed in a good way. KemI strives to reduce the risk of humans and the environment getting harmed by chemicals and our goal is to prevent damage
Role in the project
Work package leader for WP 4 Risk Assessment. In collaboration with WP 1 and partners from all other WPs as well as involved stakeholders, KemI will lead the development of shared understanding of critical terms such as Systems-based ERA and improve systems-understanding by mapping decision contexts. KemI is also responsible for coordination and benchmarking of SYBERAC’s development of regulatory of risk assessment with Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals (PARC) and other relevant projects. Finally, in collaboration with WP 2 and 3 KemI will lead SYBERAC’s work to identify protection goals, key environmental and chemical drivers of impact on biodiversity and their link to future definitions for system-based Protection Goals and management options.

Johan Axelman
He is a Strategic Adviser at Swedish Chemicals Agency with 17 years of experience of regulatory chemical environmental risk assessment in ERA expert, managerial as well as strategic roles. Johan has acquired a comprehensive understanding of both legal and scientific dimensions of regulatory risk assessment, as well as the challenges faced by government agencies at the intersection of science and regulation.
