The UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH)
The UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) is an independent research institute in the UK. UKCEH is a leading provider of research in the terrestrial and freshwater environmental sciences. UKCEH has played a unique role in researching the environmental impacts of chemicals on the environment in Europe and worldwide.
Role in the project
UKCEH will provide expertise in understanding the impacts of pesticides on species in agroecosystems, including traits related to sensitivity, the impacts of management regimes in an arable crop based case study and the integration of new approaches into risk assessment methodologies.
People involved
David Spurgeon
Ecotoxicological researcher who has worked on assessing the effects of anthropogenic stressors and pollution on soil communities in agricultural, urban and semi-natural and natural ecosystems
Melanie Gibbs
She is an Insect Ecologist who uses an integrated approach to gain a mechanistic understanding of how anthropogenic change, and mitigation strategies, impact the evolutionary ecology of insect populations and communities.
Stephen Short
He is a molecular biologist and ecotoxicologist with a research interest in using 'omic' data to predict chemical sensitivity across terrestrial invertebrates and the effects of exposure on species and communities at local and landscape scale.
Alex Robinson
He is an ecotoxicological researcher involved in the development of new test methods for the laboratory and field assessment of the effects of pollutants and pesticide on terrestrial ecosystems
